This concept would be taking inspiration from 1950s-60s anthology hosts, my early childhood with VHS and CRTs, as well as the emergence of the "TV Head" trend that began while I was a young teen on the internet.
"Object Heads" have always been around in the horror genre and surrealist art movements. This concept blew up in popularity on blogging and art sharing websites like Tumblr back in 2011, when I was 9 (the beginning of the age demographic my premise is targetting!)
TV Heads began to become the most popular type of object head, mostly due to the fact that they were the easiest to dress up as- soon enough, you could walk into any convention in the early 2010s and see a handful of them walking around.
TV Heads will typically use old-school CRT or computer aesthetics to indicate emotion or expressions, though they are often just blank monitors.
